1616 N Damen

1616 N. Damen is a small infill site in the heart of Bucktown. The three-story structure is a modern interpretation of the masonry retail buildings prevalent up and down Damen Avenue. The façade is a series of shifted boxes, each floor is clad in a different material, cement panels, metal panels and brick. The shifting boxes provide increased visibility to the upper floors and create usable outdoor space facing the street. The first floor was designed for up to two retail users with the upper floors intended for commercial or office use. Located near the Damen Blue Line station, this transit served development provides no parking on site. The project is currently on hold as a tenant is being sought.
