Burdeen’s – 120 E. Oak

Formerly a two-story bank with a large central atrium, Burdeen’s Jewelry purchased the vacant property for a new Timepiece Boutique with the intention of giving it a new modern glass façade, more in line with the modern retail architecture found along Oak Street, and providing flagship boutiques for two European watch brands, Panerai and IWC, and a multi-brand showcase for themselves. The neo-classical brick and stone façade of the bank is being removed down to its structural frame and replaced with a modern glass and metal panel design featuring a vertical glass bay cantilevered over the entry with a projecting canopy and large decorative light fixture. Each of the two flagship brands, which flank the entrance, have been provided with their own unique façades and entrances, incorporated with the overall framework of the design. The open atrium will be infilled with a spectacular structural glass floor that allows transparency between the floors and natural light from a large skylight to infiltrate the interior. Besides the sale of high-end watches, pre-owned timepieces and a watchmaking studio will be featured on the second floor. In addition to the new façade and infill of the atrium, new internal stairs are being provided to further connect the various brands and spaces.
